Bluecrop has some exceptional qualities that are often offset by its challenges. On the plus side, the flavor, yield and vigor are excellent. Unfortunately, the variety suffers from a lack of shelf life and tendency to redback under heavy production leading to tartness. While this is not a variety that is suitable as a fresh market berry, we do recommend consideration for handpicked local and processed markets.
